Make it stand out.

This terrace fountain was designed as a serene focal point for a second-floor gathering space, where employees could take a quiet break from the pace of their day. Nestled within a landscaped terrace featuring trees and lush foliage, the water feature was intended to enhance the calming atmosphere without drawing too much attention to itself. The goal was not to entertain, but to provide a subtle, peaceful presence—an understated element that supported relaxation and meditation.

Make it serene.

From the outset, it was clear that the client valued both the visual tranquility and the sensory presence of water. Initial conversations led us toward a reflection pond concept, which immediately resonated with the client’s desire for simplicity and stillness. However, they also wanted a sense of movement—not dramatic splashing or dancing jets, but something that would gently remind users of the presence of water. Through close collaboration and iterative discussions, we landed on a concept that balanced both stillness and motion in a refined, seamless way.

Make it work.

The final design featured a stainless steel basin nested within a concrete structure, with a subtle 1" gap around the perimeter. This allowed water to flow gently over the edge of the stainless basin and disappear between the two walls into a hidden collection pool. Below, the water fell into a concealed space, creating a soft echo that added a sonic dimension to the experience without revealing its source. Every detail—from material selection to the engineering of the water flow—was carefully considered to maintain the clean visual aesthetic while achieving a dynamic yet discreet effect.

The completed fountain quietly anchors the terrace, providing a reflective surface that mirrors the surrounding greenery and sky, while the gentle sound of water subtly animates the space. It is a unique feature that surprises in its simplicity—what appears to be a still pond carries a deeper sensory experience that fully aligns with the client's vision. This design not only met but enhanced the original intent, becoming a calming, integrated part of the environment where employees can pause, reflect, and recharge.
